Rich Stagliano, M.D. is the president and founder of Live Fit Medicine.  He is board certified in Emergency Medicine and a member of the Center for Mind Body Medicine (CMBM) and the Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM).  Dr. Rich completed his medical education and Emergency Medicine residency at MCP Hahnemann School of Medicine in Philadelphia.  It was during his training as a resident that he developed an interest in nutrition and fitness.

The rigorous schedule and long hours in the hospital were taking their toll, as he found himself skipping meals, missing workouts and always feeling fatigued.  To combat this, he altered his diet (often on the run!) and made time for exercise.  He found himself happier, more energized and better able to focus.  Tapping this new found energy, he developed a passion for cycling, mountain biking and snowboarding and began reading everything he could about nutrition and fitness in order to improve his performance.

Meanwhile, in the Emergency Room, Dr. Rich felt frustrated and saddened by the realization that he was only putting temporary "band-aids" on many of his patients' chronic medical problems.  Problems related to poor nutrition and unhealthy lifestyles.  He made the decision to focus on preventive medicine rather than "reactive" medicine.  So three years ago he helped set up a nutrition and weight management practice in Southern California.  Through that experience he became inspired to open up his own practice in the Bay Area - Live Fit Medicine.  Here he provides medically sound nutrition, health and fitness advice designed to help his patients live an active, fit and healthy lifestyle.  Here he can also create deeper connections with his patients, and practice the art and science of medicine in a manner more rewarding to both himself and his patients.
